OOH Today I am walking you through my weekly process that I use to plan our dinners! One of the things that I try to do weekly is to make sure I know exactly what we are planning for dinner for the week because it has so many benefits!
First of all it helps create my grocery list and I stay focused on what I definitely need versus what I think I may need which are two totally different things! A lot of times if I don't have a written menu for the week I'll overbuy at the grocery store and especially when we're talking about dairy or produce, that can get expensive if you end up throwing it all away because you end up not using it all which I am definitely guilty of when I don't have a plan! Buying less means not only am I throwing away less produce, I'm saving money also! Win-Win!
The second benefit of planning a weekly menu is that it gives me a guide for the week so that if I am already making a batch of ground beef for example, and see that I'm planning 2 dinners where that will be an ingredient, then why not go ahead and batch that cooking so that you cook more than you need for one dinner, have enough for both, and then just refrigerate or freeze so you don't have to cook every single night! That's a trick I use a LOT of times so that a lot of nights are just heating dinner up instead of having to make it every night.
The third benefit of having a weekly meal plan is it keeps me on track with my health goals as far as nutrition goes because let's be real...if you get home hungry and don't have anything planned and end up ordering something or going out, chances are that the meal you end up eating isn't going to be as healthy as something that you cooked or prepared yourself.
In the video I go into more details so that you can create your own weekly meal plan and get going today!
