Hey There!! Ooh I love health and fitness and even though I've been drinking apple cider vinegar for years it seems like it's all the rage right now so I wanted to share with you my morning apple cider vinegar drink recipe that I drink almost every morning without fail!
After I brush my teeth, wash my face, and get the babies outside to "do their business" I hop on over to the fridge and make my morning shot of goodness! (Yes even BEFORE my bulletproof coffee...hehe)

I've always had apple cider vinegar in the house and about 6 months ago started using it more regularly and have really been enjoying this recipe. I feel like it gets me in a healthy mindset for the day and I feel like it compliments my keto focused lifestyle.
Apple Cider Vinegar for Keto Lifestyle
According to some research out there, apple cider vinegar increases ketosis which is the metabolic state your body undergoes when it's in a fat burning mode - meaning that your body will burn more fat with it in your system.
Because of the way apple cider vinegar is fermented it has very little sugar and carbs which is great when you are on keto because you are wanting to keep carbs and sugar (which turn into glucose in your bloodstream) super low so your body will burn your fat for fuel instead of glucose from carbs and sugar.
Blood Sugar Control
Apple Cider Vinegar contains about 5-6% Acetic Acid which has a lot of health benefits including reducing inflammation, lowering blood pressure, and controlling blood sugar.
In a study from The Journal of American Diabetes Association from 2004, the study concluded that apple cider vinegar helped control blood sugar levels after participants ate a high carbohydrate meal and indicated that vinegar can significantly improve post meal blood sugar spikes.
Cholesterol
According to an article published in 2014 in The Journal of Membrane Biology in a study they conducted on animals, it was concluded that apple cider vinegar had a positive effect on blood lipid levels compared to the animals that were not given apple cider vinegar.

I add in lemon juice and some liquid tumeric to my morning shot to load up on health benefits. Lemons provide benefits to the body and even if it's just to get in some water early in the morning it's a great practice to set up your mindset for the day. Here are some benefits to lemons however keep in mind that I usually only squeeze one slice of lemon into my morning drink or add in a few tsp's from a lemon juice jar (the squeezable kind you get in the produce department) so you'll likely want to follow up with a larger glass of water (after you drink your apple cider vinegar cocktail) with another slice of lemon to get more added benefits.

One thing to note is I do not add honey to my cocktail. I used to add in liquid stevia (a few drops of the vanilla creme) to help with the taste but that was before I started adding the liquid tumeric. Once I started using the liquid tumeric, it has a bit of a sweet taste to it I didn't feel like I needed the stevia.
I personally don't want to add honey not because I don't like it but to limit the amount of sugar especially first thing in the morning that my body gets.
The recipe below is the exact recipe that I do each morning except I usually just mix up the apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, and tumeric and drink it quick like a shot. I personally have tried drinking it with 8oz of water and prefer to shoot it quick and while it is potent I follow up with a 16-20oz glass of lemon water so I'm good to go for the day.
I usually use Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar and either organic lemons or the lemon juice from the squeeze lemon in the produce section of the grocery store. I am currently using this Tumeric which I got at Costco.

The benefits I've experienced while taking this morning drink have been subtle and are I believe complimenting my keto lifestyle and the benefits that I'm having while on a low carb/low sugar high fat diet.

- My cravings and appetite are lower - while they have been since I've been doing keto, I do feel like it's enhancing my keto lifestyle
- I feel focused and clear headed through out my day which is in part to my bulletproof coffee and not having carbs in the morning and I do feel like this morning shot is complimenting that
- My skin especially my face is looking nice and radiant
- Overall I feel like it's a great start to my day and I'm doing something healthy for myself first thing in the morning

Apple Cider Morning Drink Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar
- 1 Tsp Lemon Juice (I Usually Squeeze One Slice of Lemon)
- 1 Tbsp Liquid Tumeric
- 1 Cup Warm Water (If you want a more diluted drink)
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients into a glass and drink first thing in the morning
