Hey There! Happy Monday! It is getting soooo cold here in Dallas!! We may even get some SNOW but I'm not holding my breath quite yet...on a different note I am so excited to share my go to glitter smokey eye look with you! This Christmas I gave my little sisters each (and myself! 🙂 a Bomb Dot Com Glitter Palette and I was blown away when I started using it the other day!! Working with glitter eye shadow isn't something most of do everyday so I thought I would share some tips that help to create a flawless look.
I also wanted to make this look "day" or "work" appropriate instead of just saving the glitter for a night out because let's face it, it's way more fun to be able to use on a daily basis then just save for a special event and we all need a little glitter in our daily lives! ?
**I filmed a video tutorial for this look here**
I really LOVE the Anastasia Modern Renaissance palette because it offers a range of warm colors that I blend on top of each other. I used the following in this order on my eyes.
Note: To get the soft wing look with my shadow I hold my Sephora "77 Contour Brush" (#2 in the collage above) against the outer corner of my eye while I apply my eyeshadow. It has the same effect like if you were to stick scotch tape at an angle but it gives me a softer more blended look which I appreciate.
Products Used:
Anastasia Modern Renaissance Eye Shadow Palette
Anastasia Self Made Eye Shadow Palette (Sold Out Online but any Black Eye Shadow will work)
Sephora PRO Contour Blender Brush #77
Bomb Dot Com Glitter Palette by Jolie Beauty
House of Lashes Radiant Lash (Currently Sold Out Online but their "Iconic" lash is great too!
Step 1: Applied Tempera all over to my eyelid to set my lid primer
Step 2: While holding my Sephora 77 Contour Brush at an angle against the outer corner of my eye, blend Golden Ochre with a blending eyeshadow brush into crease in windshield like motions. Once it's all blended make circle motions with brush along crease to get everything blended
Step 3: Still holding my Sephora 77 Contour Brush at an angle against the outer corner of my eye, use the same brush as before to blend Raw Sienna into crease in windshield like motions. Once it's all blended make circle motions with brush along crease to get everything blended
Step 4: Still holding my Sephora 77 Contour Brush at an angle against the outer corner of my eye, use the same brush as before to blend Burnt Orange into crease in windshield like motions. Once it's all blended make circle motions with brush along crease to get everything blended
Step 5: By this point if you move the Contour Brush you should have a nice soft blown out winged look from the warm layered shadows
Step 6: Now take a smaller blending brush and dip it into Red Ochre and dab it onto the outer corner of your eye while holding the Contour Brush at an angle against the outer corner of your eye. Then grab your bigger blending brush and swirl the color into the outer corner of your crease and blend blend blend
Step 7: Take the smaller blending brush and this time dip it into Antique Bronze and do the same thing as in Step 6
Step 8: Since the Anastasia Renaissance palette doesn't have a black eyeshadow I grabbed her other palette that I have called Self Made and dipped my smaller blending brush into the color Spirit Rock (or any black eyeshadow) and dab it onto the outer corner of your eye while holding the Contour Brush at an angle against the outer corner of your eye. Then grab your bigger blending brush and swirl the color into the outer corner of your crease and blend blend blend
Step 9: Now the fun part! Grab your glitter glue (if you don't use glue you will end up with glitter on your face later in the day aka "fallout") and using a flat eyeshadow brush dab glue onto ONE eyelid focusing on the inner corner and mid way across your lid and right below your crease (it dries fast so do one eye at a time) then swipe your finger (fingers work better than brushes at picking up glitter) on the glitter you want to use and dab it where you applied the glitter glue
Note: To avoid fallout ie: the glitter falling on your face, you can take a piece of tissue/toilet paper and hold it under your lower lash line to catch anything that falls and then take a clean brush and whisk it away after you apply the glitter
Step 10: Give the glue a few seconds to dry then take your larger blending brush and swirl it on the outer edges of the glitter to blend and avoid any harsh lines
Step 11: Repeat on your other eye
Step 12: Using a pencil brush run the 3 warm colors (Golden Ochre, Raw Sienna and Burnt Orange under your lower lash line and then take a stiff line brush and dip it into Red Ochre and run that super close to the lower lashes
Step 13: Blend back and forth along the lower lash line to blow out the shadow
Step 14: Line the upper and bottom waterline of your eye with black kohl eyeliner
Step 15: To finish the look and apply false lashes, apply glue on your false lashes...wait about 30 seconds so the glue is tacky and then set on top of real lashes and push into place

That's it! Viola, you should have a Glitter Smokey Eye that you can wear for work or play! I used the gold glitter so that I could still feel comfortable meeting clients...I will save the bolder colors for date night! ?
If you want me to film a tutorial showing the steps let me know!
